Emergency Medical Services

Want to become an EMT? Begin by earning your Emergency Medical Technician Applied Technology Diploma. You’ll help save lives as a vital link in the pre-hospital healthcare delivery system, providing emergency care and patient transport.

You’ll learn life-support skills including: assessing patients, opening airways, restoring breathing and controlling blood loss. You’ll also train to bandage wounds, treat heart attack victims, care for poison and burn victims and assist with childbirth.  Upon completion, you’ll be eligible to take the National Registry (NREMT) EMT examination. You can continue your education and apply your credits toward the Paramedic Certificate or the A.S. Degree in Emergency Medical Services.

  • A.S. Degree — Gain management and technical skills in many high-demand career fields, with the option to continue toward a Bachelor’s degree at IRSC.
