About the Program

The Respiratory Care program trains students in the use of medical gases, medication, aerosols, chest physiotherapy, airway management, mechanical ventilation, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The program includes classroom lecture, lab experiences, and clinical experience at local hospitals.

The Respiratory Care program is a selective admission program. Successful completion of the program allows the graduate to sit for the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialing exams that lead to the credential Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Program Goals

The goal of the Respiratory Care program is to prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists (RRTs). More specifically, to train students desiring an education in this field regardless of race, color, nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, veteran status or genetic information.
