About the Program - When Does it Start?

The phlebotomy program at IRSC starts in the Fall of each year. It is a selective admission program that admits 15 students. In the Spring semester each student is assigned to a clinical rotation where they will acquire experience in a clinical setting. You should apply for the program in January as students are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Applicants must have a GED, high school diploma or equivalency. This program is not covered by financial aid. Please attend an information session for more information about this program.  See right column area for Information Session dates and times.

Become a Phlebotomist

Are you ready to be a vital part of the Health Care Team? Become a Phlebotomist at IRSC. As a Phlebotomist you will draw blood specimens from patients for laboratory tests. By completing IRSC’s Phlebotomy Program you master establishing a professional relationship with the patient, selecting and preparing the puncture site of the skin, collecting specimens, preparing and maintaining equipment used for obtaining blood specimens and caring for the patient after specimen collection. IRSC’s Phlebotomy Program will also train you to process data for the testing purposes, as well as performing clerical duties associated with the record keeping of laboratory tests.
